Architect Bernard Judge’s award-winning midcentury home perched high in the Hollywood Hills is still up for grabs.
Featured in numerous design publications – including landing the cover of Sunset Magazine’s November 1978 issue, Judge built his personal residence, named “Treehouse,” using a patented “innovative structural system based on a four-pole, pre-cut residential module” that allows 9192 Crescent Drive to stand firmly on a steep 2.3-acre view lot, above the prestigious Bird Streets.
Completed in 1975, the modestly-sized two-bedroom, one-bathroom home opens to expansive sliding glass framing unobstructed views from downtown to the ocean. With beamed ceilings above, a spiral staircase with wood threads sits at the center of the top floor, flanked by the living and dining rooms.
Blaine Mallory, Judge’s wife, tells Curbed LA that “the listing is mainly a land sale … she and Judge hope that the buyer preserves the house.” The home is listed for $4.75 million.
