Striking midcentury view home seeks $3.2M in the Hollywood Hills

The Banta House, a midcentury modern home designed and built by architect Richard Banta as his personal residence, is all about the views and the striking pleated-style roof.

Built in 1959, the home is located at 2081 Sunset Plaza Dr on a hillside lot above the Sunset Strip.

The most striking angle of the structure is seen by looking at the back of the home, where the dwelling’s red V-shaped stilts, expansive floor-to-ceiling glass sliders, and Banta’s signature roofline are captured as one.

The light-filled interior features an open floor plan with indoor-outdoor flow to the patio and expansive deck, updated kitchen and baths, walls of glass, wood floors, and repeats the pleated pattern of the roofline in the ceiling.

Modestly sized at 1,181 square feet, the two-bedroom, two-bath home comes with approved plans and issued permits to expand the dwelling to 3,300 square feet, all while keeping the existing structure intact.

This one-of-a-kind published mid-century modern with tremendous views last sold in 2010 for $565,000. Represented by Julia Delorme, it’s now on the market seeking $3.2 million.
