Architectural designer updates this midcentury above the Sunset Strip

Inspired by the modern work of architect Paul R. Williams, architectural designer Darrick F. Martin spent ten years thoughtfully updating the Kranse Residence above the Sunset Strip.

Post-war U.S.C. architect Nisan Yale Matlin originally designed the home. During his career, he worked for A.Quincy Jones & Emmons Architects (known for the Eichler homes of the 1960s.)

Matlin brought the indoor/outdoor lifestyle to his homes with usable atriums, high ceilings, post-and-beam construction, walls of glass, and clerestory windows. Inside and out, Martin maintains the spirit of Matlin’s work.

Measuring just under 1,500 square feet, the home features a galley-style kitchen that flows to an L-shaped open living and dining area anchored by a fireplace.

The home is currently used as a one-bedroom with an office/media room. The primary bedroom and bath have floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors leading to an outdoor entertainment pavilion where you can relax on a chaise lounge leisurely flipping through the latest issue of Dwell magazine. Listed by Christopher Pomeroy and Crosby Doe, the home seeks $2,375,000.
